If you want to see real life, real people instead of beautiful things, beautiful places, Kyimyindaing Fish Market (aka San Pya Wholesale Fish Market) is the place you must definitely visit. It is situated on the banks of the Yangon River in West Yangon near the intersection of Kyeemyindaing Kannar Road also known as Strand Road and Nat Sin Road. You can find every type of fish and seafood from all over the country. Although the market is open 24 hours a day, the best experience starts on 1 am every morning as the fishermen return from the ocean with piles of freshly caught seafood at night. In the early morning the handling, wrapping, and bargaining are going on and that is the busiest time as boats unload their catches and deals are done with smaller market traders and buyers for restaurants and hotels. During midday, the heat has taken over and a solid rest is needed.
